December 13th, 2011 CFTC to Hold Open Meeting to Consider Three Final Rules

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at 9:30 a.m., on the following topics:

(1) Final Rule on Real-Time Reporting of Swap Transaction Data;

(2) Final Rule on Swap Data Recordkeeping and Reporting Requirements; and

(3) Final Rule on Effective Date for Swap Regulation.

The Meeting is open to the public.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Division of Market Oversight today issued a Guidebook for Part 20 Reports providing additional guidance and detailed instructions for submitting large swaps trader reports to the Commission.

November 19th, 2010 SEC Proposes Rules on Security-Based Swap Reporting

The Securities and Exchange Commission today voted unanimously to propose new rules entailing how security-based swap transactions should be reported and publicly disseminated.

The rules are proposed under Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which generally authorizes the SEC to regulate security-based swaps. The proposed rules (Regulation SBSR) represent an important step in the SEC's continuing effort to increase the transparency of the security-based swap market and fulfill mandates under the Dodd-Frank Act.
