Gary Probert Named Chair of ISITC for 2010 - 2011
ISITC (International Securities Association for Institutional Trade Communication), the industry trade group focused on standards in transaction processing and related communications, today announced that Gary Probert, Managing Director at Citi, will serve as the next Chair of the organization for the 2010-2011 term. Genevy Dimitrion, who served as ISITC Chair during the 2008-2009 term, will continue contributing to ISITC as part of the Executive Board.
Probert has been a member of ISITC since 1997 and has served on the Executive Board since 2002, when he was elected to the position of Treasurer. Since 2008, he has held the position of First Vice-Chair, from which he automatically succeeds to the position of Chair. During his years on the ISITC Executive Board, he has frequently worked to broaden ISITC's role within the broker/dealer community, and he expects to continue ISITC's outreach to the financial community as Chair.
Probert commented, "I am pleased to continue my work with ISITC in the capacity of Chair. Since its inception, ISITC has provided the financial community with practical guidance to help improve the efficiency of transaction processing and communications. In today's economy, it has become ever more important for the financial industry to adopt standards and consistent market practices to help companies lower their risk and reduce inefficiencies in order to remain competitive in the global marketplace." He continued, "In the coming year, ISITC will continue to lead these collaborative efforts to propose standards that will better serve the securities industry."
Outgoing ISITC Chair Genevy Dimitrion said, "In passing the torch, I am very excited for Gary. He is the right person to lead ISITC into the new era of financial services as the economy continues to recover."
As Chair, Mr. Probert will act as President and CEO of ISITC. His duties will include supervising and controlling ISITC's affairs during his term, as well as acting on behalf of ISITC with regard to contracts and other documents. Mr. Probert will also be addressing ISITC members at the 16th Annual Industry Forum and Vendor Show, which will be held in Boston in March 2010. It will host over 450 industry professionals out of all areas of the financial industry, including broker/dealers, investment managers and custodians. Delegates will include C-Suite and other senior executives from ISITC member firms.
At Citi, Mr. Probert is a global product manager with the Electronic Markets team, where he focuses primarily on Execution to Custody, an initiative that links Citi's trading execution capabilities with its Custodian network.
