End User Regulatory Update: The Current State of Derivatives Regulation in the EU and U.S.
As regulatory reform evolves on both sides of the Atlantic, end users still face the possibility of new rules negatively impacting their ability to use derivatives to hedge commercial risks. Chatham Financial's Joe Siu offers a timely update on the specific risks end users face under Dodd-Frank and EMIR and specifically regarding entity classification, central clearing, margin requirements and higher capital requirements rules.
Introduction
Joe is a Senior Advisor in Chatham’s Derivatives Regulatory Advisory Services group. Joe works closely with European end users and their representative trade associations, providing technical and public policy advice in the area of derivatives regulation. Joe has also worked closely with the Coalition for Derivatives End-Users in crafting policy analysis and comment letters on key regulatory rules. Prior to his current role, Joe helped establish Chatham's Central European office where he provided leadership and assisted in Chatham's European advisory service.
